Mosinee Community Theatre is currently seeking a director for their annual summer production in July, 2012. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the Board of Directors on the selection of the show and will have the full support of the organization in assembling a production staff and bringing the show to the stage. Host Sought for UWMC Theatre Department Artist In Residence | Volunteer Opportunity
Posted by Eric Brandt in UWMC Theatre Department, Volunteer Opportunity on August 22, 2011
The University of Wisconsin – Marathon County Theatre Department is seeking accommodations for their artist in residence from September 8, 2011, until September 22, 2011. For two weeks, you could play host to one of the most prolific playwrights on your block.
As you may recall, UWMC will open its 2011-2012 theater season with The Return of the Neo-Futurists and Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind. Chicago’s theater troupe The Neo-Furturists are the brainchild of writer, director, and performer Greg Allen. Their signature show, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind (30 plays in 60 minutes), has been in continuous production since December 2, 1988. For perspective, that was the year you voted for Mike Dukakis. Or not. Allen is also the founder of the New York Neo-Futurists, whose production of Too Much Light… has been running since 2004.
Allen is also going to be UWMCs artist in residence for two weeks in September. He’s coming to town to assist with the UWMC interpretation of Too Much Light… and will be needing a place to crash when he’s not at the theater working with the production. That probably won’t amount to a lot of time, but even great artists appreciate a place to sleep and shower.
If you have some extra room and think it might be cool to have a playwright hanging out for a few nights in the fall, please contact Professor Sarah Rudolph at the University of Wisconsin – Marathon County Theatre Department via phone at 715-261-6290 or email at sarah.rudolph@uwc.edu

Grilling Out for the Arts – Volunteers Needed
Posted by Eric Brandt in Volunteer Opportunity, Wausau Community Theatre on June 25, 2011
The 400 Block in downtown Wausau will play host to the seventh annual Chalkfest on Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10, 2011. If you’ve never been, you should go, and if you have been, you don’t need to be told to go again. There’s something compelling about extremely beautiful art that requires a vast amount of effort to create, but that only exists for a short time and only for those who are right there to experience it. It’s almost like…theater! And, once again, Wausau Community Theatre will be hosting a brat stand right on the 400 Block. Proceeds from the brat stand will benefit WCT as it prepares to launch it’s 2011-2012 season, and volunteers (just like you) Read Full Article −>
