Wausau Community Theater’s 2011-2012 Season is already underway, to the extent that their first show of the season, Oklahoma! is in the rehearsal process as of this writing.

Oklahoma! was the first collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein and was the first successful “book musical,” fully integrating songs and dances into the story line. In it’s day, it revolutionized the way musical theater was written and produced, and that impact is still apparent in shows being written today. This will be your opportunity to see how it all started. Leaving the turn of the twentieth century Great Plains behind, WCT carries us next into the heart of the Spanish Inquisition with Man of La Mancha. The show, inspired by Don Quixote of La Mancha but in fact about it’s author, Miguel de Cervantes, is a towering giant in the musical theater world.
