You’ve decided you want to audition for a local theater group. Congratulations! Just getting to this point is quite a step. But now what?

The Theater Community strives to maintain a listing of upcoming auditions that are open to the public in the Central Wisconsin area. Just click on the Auditions page and follow the links there.

Every theater organization, though, has a method for announcing it’s auditions. It may be as traditional as a notice posted at their office or they may have decided that more folks will hear about auditions if they post their announcements on the internet. For instance, Wausau Community Theatre has a page on it’s web site dedicated to audition announcements, with links to specific postings for upcoming shows. Oasis Theater Ensemble, UW – Marathon County, and the Everest Academy for the Arts post audition announcements on their respective home pages. And recently many community theater groups have been making use of Facebook events for auditions.

Whatever method your local theater group uses for announcements, though, one thing is certain. They would love for you to know when auditions are.

So if you haven’t found the web site for the group you’re interested in auditioning for, by all means, call them! Theater groups are typically small, tax-exempt community benefit organizations, so there isn’t a lot of time, revenue or even expertise for maintaining a web presence. That may mean the telephone will be your best, or possibly only, way to connect. When you call, you may find out about a Facebook group you can join, or they may give you a very non-intuitive URL from a free web-host. Or you may find out you just need to stop by the office and look at a bulletin board from time to time.

But you’ve decided to audition, and that’s the important thing. Soon enough, you’ll find out auditions are coming, and then the real fun begins!
